Steps 1 2 3 aloud
Why should you follow this plan by reading your portion scriptures out aloud?
The word of God is exactly that “the word of God” God spoke his word. Now we have the word of God written down in what is called the King James Bible. We read it and under this plan we read a set number of verses say 10 verses in each set. The plan we follow here is Pray Read and Look.
What is the advantage of reading this out aloud? Well we are told to read the Bible out aloud.
[KJV] [Joshua 1:8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
[KJV] [Psalms 77:12] I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
[KJV] [Jeremiah 36:6] Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD’S house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
[KJV] [Jeremiah 36:21] So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
[KJV] [Nehemiah 8:8] So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
[KJV] [1 Timothy 4:13] Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
[KJV] [Romans 10:17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. When we first learn to read we read the words out aloud so that reading could be checked. Then we started to read by mouthing the words with lips. Then we found that we could read the word and just hear the words in our minds without saying them at all. Now that we are seeking to have our minds renewed by the word of God and in particular the word forms of the King James Bible, reading the word of God out aloud is very beneficial.
As we read the words out aloud our senses are engaged in hearing the word of God and in speaking the word of God. It may not be always possible to actually read aloud so then we can mouth the words as it were.
There is huge advantage in reading the word of God out aloud. Try this for yourself and enjoy this experiment. The word of God it is not the word of man. The word of God demands all of our attention. The format of the King James Bible will train our minds and adapt the way in which we think. As we read the King James Bible out aloud we will become accustomed to its syntax and its form. Don’t be ashamed of trying this for a 40 day period. The King James Bible is the word of God and we need to hear it so that we can fully meditate on this word. That’s what we do when we Look. We start to meditate on what we have just read. We look at the verses and we meditate on them to make certain that we understand what the English form is actually saying. We checked the words that we are not familiar with. We chase the references to other parts of the King James Bible that come to light in the passage that we have just read. We start to understand the intricate weaving that makes up the fabric of the King James Bible.
Do not be ashamed to try to read the King James Bible out aloud. Your mistakes and your misunderstandings will be emphasised as you read. Don’t stop reading until you get to the end of your verse set. When you start to Look go to the first verse of the set and looked down through the set looking to understand what you have just read.
Remember you are looking for the understanding of the English its self and the words and concepts that are in the actual verses. The spiritual understanding will come later as you are going about your days And the Holy Spirit brings the verses that you have read back to your remembrance was spiritual understanding. By the time a few periods of 40 days have passed your confidence and your ability to understand the King James Bible will have improved so much that you will hardly recognize how difficult it was to start with.
